Why You Should Consider Installing Solar Panels

Power plants burning fossil fuels are a pretty effective way to generate electricity (industrial electrician Anaheim). However, current world trends suggest that electricity supply might be moving in a different direction−solar power. Why? Keep reading to find out

1. Solar energy is self-sustaining: The most important reason for solar panels' increasing world wide popularity is that they are an incredibly sustainable source of electricity. Plants burn fossil fuel to supply electricity. Not only do these plants release dangerous levels of pollution into the environment, they are also bound to run out of fossil fuel eventually. Light from the sun on the other hand is probably going to outlast the earth, and so will always be available. Solar energy is simply easier and more sustainable than power plants.

2. Long lifespan: Most solar panels have a guaranteed life span of over ten years? To understand this, we need to know how solar panels work. Solar panels work by letting photons in the sun’s rays displace electrons from atoms within their panels. The displacement of electrons generates energy that then generates electricity. The ten years life span of solar panels is because they invariably run out of electrons for the photons to knock loose. The good news is that once you buy a solar panel, you are set for the next decade or so.

3. Surge immunity: Even though fossil burning power plants have been pretty reliable in the past, they also have lapses. Take power surges for example. They are very nasty, and threaten everything from the power grid to your home electrical system and wiring. Sometimes, these surges are even caused by the utility company during routine maintenance. Solar power on the other hand is immune to power surges. Even if a solar flare occurred, it wouldn’t increase the voltage of the power supplied to the house because solar panels have an upper limit to the energy they can convert and supply. This makes a solar powered house surge resistant.
4. It is cheaper: If you use the power grid to supply electricity to your home, you will probably spend more in the long run. This is because the sum of all your electivity bills over a period of ten years (average lifespan of a panel) is going to be much more than what it costs to install solar panels in your home (electrical panel upgrade 200A orange county).
